This compelling film is narrated by Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara, who tell the poignant story of the original 42 “Chimpanzees in Need,” who were left behind at the Wildlife Waystation. The once-thriving waystation closed unexpectedly in 2019, leaving hundreds of animals in need of new homes. All were rehomed, except for the chimpanzees, who have unique needs that only a handful of sanctuaries can accommodate. Since this film was made, all of the individuals have been relocated to sanctuaries at great financial cost.
